# Adding an item to the canvas

When you create or add to a flow, you do so by adding nodes or groups of nodes to the canvas using the [icon: plus, set=fa]icon. This presents the following options for additions to the flow:

* **Connector**: Adds a connector of any sort to the canvas.

  This can be an existing connector that's already configured in your environment, or a new connector.

* **User Interface**: Adds a connector with a user interface to the connector.

  This can be either a PingOne forms connector, a custom HTML form using the HTTP connector, or a basic message using the HTTP connector.

* **Subflow**: Adds a flow conductor connector that launches a subflow that you select.
