# Anonymous Session Upgrade node

The Anonymous Session Upgrade node lets you upgrade an anonymous session to an identified session.

## Example

After using the [Anonymous User Mapping node](anonymous-user-mapping.html) to access AM as an anonymous user, this node lets users upgrade their session to a non-anonymous one:

## Availability

| Product                               | Available? |

| PingAM (self-managed)                 | Yes        |
| Ping Identity Platform (self-managed) | Yes        |

## Inputs

None. This node doesn't read shared state data.

## Dependencies

The node requires an existing anonymous session. Use it after the [Anonymous User Mapping node](anonymous-user-mapping.html) node or another node that creates an anonymous session.

## Configuration

This node has no configurable properties.

## Outputs

The node upgrades the current anonymous session when the previous authentication session was created by an anonymous journey.

## Callbacks

This node doesn't send any callbacks.

## Outcomes

Single outcome path.

## Errors

The node can log the following errors:

* `Failed to get previous session`

  The node couldn't retrieve the session identified by the request SSO token.

* `Unable to create AMAuthenticationManager instance`

  The node couldn't load the authentication configuration for the realm. Check that the realm and its authentication configuration are available.
