# Configuring single sign-on

To allow PingFederate to act as an identity provider for the target service, modify your connection to include single sign-on (SSO) *(tooltip: \<div class="paragraph">
\<p>The process of authenticating an identity (signing on) at one website (usually with a user ID and password) and then accessing resources secured by other domains without reauthenticating.\</p>
\</div>)*.

| | SSO is not required for provisioning. If you only want to use the SCIM Provisioner for provisioning, skip these steps. |

## Steps

1. Complete the steps in [Adding SSO to a connection](pf_scim_connector_adding_sso_to_a_connection.html).

2. On the target service, configure SSO by following the documentation provided by the service. When prompted for information about PingFederate, refer to [PingFederate SSO details for the service provider](pf_scim_connector_pf_sso_details_for_the_service_provider.html).
