# Importing the Symantec certificate into PingFederate

To allow PingFederate and Symantec VIP to communicate securely, import the Symantec signing certificate into PingFederate.

## Steps

1. In the [Symantec VIP Manager](https://manager.vip.symantec.com/vipmgr/signin.v) portal, export your SSL client certificate in the PKCS#12 format.

To do so, complete the steps in [Managing VIP Certificates](https://manager.vip.symantec.com/vipmgr/helpcontentvipenrollcert.v) in the Symantec VIP Manager documentation.

2. In PingFederate, go to the certificate import page:

   1. Go to **Security > Certificate & Key Management > SSL Client Keys & Certificates**.

   2. On the **SSL Client Keys & Certificates** window, click **Import**.

3. On the **Import Certificate** tab, select your Symantec certificate and enter the password. Click **Next**.

4. On the **Summary** tab, click **Save**.
