# Deregistering and uninstalling services

When a server is registered as a service, it cannot run as a non-service process or be uninstalled.

## Steps

1. To remove the service from the Windows registry, run the `bat/deregister-windows-service.bat` script.

2. To uninstall PingAuthorize Server, run the `PingAuthorize/uninstall.bat` script. For more information, see [Uninstalling PingAuthorize](../installing_and_uninstalling_pingauthorize/paz_uninstall_pingauthorize.html).
