# Account status notifications

PingDirectory server can generate account status notifications whenever certain events occur in the server regarding an account's state.

These notifications are used to notify end users or administrators about that event, or potentially to invoke custom code in response to them. For more information, see the [Account status notifications](pd_sec_acct_status_notifications.html) section in the discussion on password policies.
