# Working with composed attributes

This section provides information on composed attributes, which generate attribute values to complement virtual attributes.

PingDirectory supports virtual attributes, which you can use to dynamically generate values in entries for a wide range of use cases, including values for [key operational attributes](pd_ds_view_default_virtual_attributes.html). Composed attributes complement virtual attributes and are designed for scenarios that virtual attributes don't support.
