# Managing your authentication methods

You can add, remove, and rename authentication methods. Choose from a list of devices when you authenticate. Manage your PingID mobile app (including transferring the app to a new device), manage PingID desktop app, and find out what to do if your device is lost or stolen.

Throughout this section, we will use the term "device" and "authentication device" to include "authentication method" as well unless there is a specific difference.

## Adding and authenticating with multiple devices

Add one or more additional authentication methods. This is a best practice, so that you won't get locked out of your account if you lose your device, leave your phone at home, or find yourself temporarily without an internet connection. The authentication methods you can add are defined by your organization, and they might also let you manage your devices from your MyAccount page.
