# Managing PingID desktop app profiles

Use multiple user profiles to pair PingID desktop app to various accounts and generate OTPs separately for each account. User profiles also enable PingID desktop app to store desktop app settings and preferences per profile.

You can add or delete one or more user profiles in your PingID Desktop app instance.

> **Collapse: Add a user profile**

> To create a user profile:
>
> 1. Launch PingID desktop app and then click ![A screen capture of the Add Profile button](../secure_authentication_with_pingid/_images/desktopApp1_8_add_profile_button.png).

> 2. Enter a name for the profile, and then click **Create**.
>
>    The Desktop app shows the name of the profile and the **Pairing Key** field. You can then pair the profile to your account. Learn more in [Pairing your PingID desktop app](../secure_authentication_with_pingid/ug_pid_pairing_pid_desktop_app.html).

> **Collapse: Rename a user profile**
>
> To rename a user profile:
>
> 1. In PingID desktop app, select the profile you want to rename and enter a PIN code if required.
>
> 2. Click the settings icon and, in the **Profile Name** field, update the name, and then click the green checkmark.

> |   | If the current profile is locked with a PIN code you do not need to know the code to switch to a different profile. |

> To switch to a different profile:
>
> * In the PingID desktop app menu, click **PingID > Profiles**, and select your profile.

> |   | Deleting your user profile doesn't unpair PingID desktop app from your account. You'll also need to unpair the device separately. Learn more in [Unpairing the desktop app](pid_unpair_pid_desktop_app.html). |

> To delete a user profile:
>
> 1. On PingID desktop app, click ![PingID desktop app profile button](../secure_authentication_with_pingid/_images/desktopApp1_8_add_profile_button.png), and then select the user profile that you want to delete.
>
> 2. Click **PingID > Profiles > Delete current profile**.
>
>    The user profile is deleted and the **Profiles** page displays all other profiles.
