# Creating launch configuration

You must create the launch configuration that the auto-scaling group will use.

## Steps

1. Select the Amazon Machine Image (AMI) that you created in [Create an AMI for ASE](pingintelligence_creating_ami_ase.html).

2. Create the EC2 instance based on the sizing requirement.

3. Assign the identity and access management (IAM) role that you created in [Create an IAM Role in the Security, Identity, and Compliance](pingintelligence_creating_iam_role_security_identity_compliance.html) to the launch configuration.

4. Complete the creation of the launch configuration.
