# Adding non-application-portal applications

You can also use the External Applications page to add applications that will not be included in the Application Portal but can be used in contexts such as [targeted risk policies](../threat_protection_using_pingone_protect/p1_protect_risk_policies.html):

## Steps

1. Go to **Applications > External Applications**.

2. Click the **[icon: plus, set=fa]**icon to add a new application.

3. Enter the name to display for the application.

4. In the **External Application ID** field, enter the ID to use for the application in contexts such as targeted risk policies.

5. Click **Save**.
