# Promotions (early access)

PingOne configuration management offers a secure, flexible way to promote configuration resources across environments. This automated process streamlines resource deployment and eliminates manual production changes, reducing errors and downtime.

A promotion or rollback includes, at a minimum:

* Source and target environment references.

* Automatically generated source and target snapshots.

* The resource or resources to promote to the target environment.

* A promotion plan for the promotion operation.
