# Importing an LDAP certificate to PingOne

Import your certificate authority (CA) *(tooltip: \<div class="paragraph">
\<p>An entity that issues digital certificates.\</p>
\</div>)* certificate to PingOne to establish trust between PingOne and your Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) *(tooltip: \<div class="paragraph">
\<p>An open, cross platform protocol used for interacting with directory services.\</p>
\</div>)* gateway.

## Before you begin

Contact your LDAP administrator to obtain the certificate from the CA that issues the certificates to their LDAP servers.

## About this task

|   | Although you can import the LDAP certificate to PingOne, we recommend that you import the issuing CA certificate to ensure that the connection will continue to work if the LDAP certificate auto-renews. |

## Steps

1. Go to **Settings → Certificates and Key Pairs**.

2. Click **[icon: plus, set=fa]Add**, and then click **Import Key Pair/Cert**.

3. For **Usage type**, select **SSL/TLS**.

4. Click **Select a file** and locate the appropriate file on your local file system.

5. Select the file and then click **Open**.

6. In the **Import key pair certificate** window, click **Upload**.
