# Setting up an Authorize gateway

Deploy Authorize gateways in your organization's infrastructure by following this process.

Optionally, you can use a bootstrapped version of authorization policies with your Authorize gateway. This allows you to set up components in your infrastructure before you build policies in the cloud.

To get started:

1. Make sure your systems meet [requirements](p1_authz_gateway_requirements.html) for self-managed deployments.

2. [Add an Authorize gateway](p1_add_authz_gateway.html).

3. [Start a gateway instance](p1_start_authz_gateway_instance.html) using Docker. This deploys a gateway instance in your infrastructure.

4. [Build your authorization policies](p1_policies_published_to_authz_gateways.html) and set up attributes and services in the Trust Framework.

5. [Assign roles](p1_manage_authz_gateway_roles.html) to the Authorize gateway, if necessary.

6. [Publish an authorization policy version](p1_publish_policy_versions_to_authz_gateway_instances.html) to the Authorize gateway.

7. [Make decision requests](p1_make_decision_requests_to_authz_gateway_instances.html) to gateway instances.
