Configuring flows using the PingOne for Customers Passwordless wizard

Use the PingOne for Customers Passwordless wizard to test your configuration.

Steps

  1. In PingOne, click Getting Started.

  2. Click Registration and select a registration experience.

    Choose from:

    • Passwords: Users sign on using a password, possibly also using multi-factor authentication (MFA) or adaptive risk signals.

    • Passwordless: Users sign on using their device, a one-time passcode (OTP), biometrics, or other options. Passwords can be permitted as well depending on environment settings.

  3. If you selected Passwords:

    1. Select a registration option.

    Choose from:

    • Standard registration: Collects name and password, and collects and verifies email address.

    • Progressive profiling registration: Collects name and password, collects and verifies email address, and progressively requests phone number verification.

      1. Optional: Select Include Terms of Service Agreement to require users to agree to an agreement before creating an account.

      2. Click Next.

  4. If you selected Passwordless:

    1. Select an option for existing users:

      • Offer passwordless: Existing users can sign on with passwords but are prompted to add a non-password authentication method. New users automatically use passwordless authentication.

      • Require passwordless: All users must use passwordless authentication.

    2. Select one or more methods for passwordless authentication.

      Method Description

      Email one-time passcode (OTP)

      The user signs on using a one-time passcode sent in an email.

      SMS OTP

      The user signs on using a one-time passcode sent in an SMS message.

      Email Magic Link

      The user signs on using a link sent to their email address.

      FIDO Passkey (Most secure)

      The user signs on using biometrics.

    3. Optional: Select Include Terms of Service Agreement to require users to agree to an agreement before creating an account.

    4. Click Next.

  5. On the authentication experience step, select an authentication experience if you are using Passwords in step 2, then click Next.

    Choose from:

    • Username and password: Users sign on using a username and password.

    • Username and password with MFA: Users sign on using a username, password, and MFA.

    • Username and password with adaptive risk signals: Users sign on using a username and password, and adaptive risk signals are used in the sign-on process.

  6. Select profile management options, then click Save.

    Option Description

    Change Password

    Enables users to update a password.

    Manage Devices

    Enables users to manage authentication devices.

  7. Select an account recovery option, then click Save.

    Choose from:

    • Reset Password: Enables users to reset a password using an alternate authentication method.

  8. Test the sample application in the current window, or click open in a new tab.
