# Manage navigation profiles

Create navigation profiles to support different end-user experiences, and assign them to different end users using groups. For a high-level overview of configuring navigation profiles, refer to [Configure the navigation menu](hosted-account-pages.html#configure-the-navigation-menu).

## Create a navigation profile

To create a navigation profile:

1. In the Advanced Identity Cloud admin console, go to [icon: touch_app, set=material, size=inline] User Experience > Navigation Profiles.

2. Click [icon: add, set=material, size=inline] New Navigation Profile to open the New Navigation Profile modal.

3. Enter a Name for the navigation profile. For example, `Customer Self-service` or `Employee Self-service`.

4. (Optional) Enter a Description for the navigation profile. For example:

   * `Self-service navigation for external consumer accounts, featuring profile management, communication preferences, consent controls, and account security`.

   * `Self-service navigation for internal employee accounts, featuring profile management, account security, and delegated administration`.

5. Click Create. This creates the navigation profile and opens it with the Items tab selected and ready for you to configure the menu items. By default, the navigation profile includes all [Navigation menu items available as standard](hosted-account-pages-navigation-menu-supplementary-information.html#navigation-menu-items-available-as-standard) and any [Navigation menu items available with add-on capabilities](hosted-account-pages-navigation-menu-supplementary-information.html#navigation-menu-items-available-with-add-on-capabilities).

6. Complete the new navigation profile's configuration using the instructions in [Configure a navigation profile](#configure-a-navigation-profile).

## Configure a navigation profile

1. In the Advanced Identity Cloud admin console, go to [icon: touch_app, set=material, size=inline] User Experience > Navigation Profiles.

2. Review the Navigation Profiles page to find the one you want to edit, then click it.

3. Configure the menu items that the navigation profile displays to end users:

   * [Enable delegated administrator menu items](hosted-account-pages-navigation-menu-items-visibility-and-arrangement.html#enable-delegated-administrator-menu-items)

   * [Change menu item visibility](hosted-account-pages-navigation-menu-items-visibility-and-arrangement.html#change-menu-item-visibility)

   * [Change menu item order and grouping](hosted-account-pages-navigation-menu-items-visibility-and-arrangement.html#change-menu-item-order-and-grouping)

   * [Change menu item label and icon](hosted-account-pages-navigation-menu-items-visibility-and-arrangement.html#change-menu-item-label-and-icon)

   * [Add custom menu items](hosted-account-pages-navigation-menu-items-visibility-and-arrangement.html#add-custom-menu-items)

   * [Add custom submenus](hosted-account-pages-navigation-menu-items-visibility-and-arrangement.html#add-custom-submenus)

4. [Assign the navigation profile to the relevant groups of end users](#assign-groups-to-a-navigation-profile).

5. [Configure navigation profile ordering](#configure-navigation-profile-ordering) to set the precedence of the navigation profile relative to other navigation profiles. If an end user is assigned to multiple navigation profiles, the UI uses the first of these profiles when ranked in ascending order. For example, `1` is ranked higher than `2`.

### Assign groups to a navigation profile

To assign the groups of end users that a navigation profile applies to:

1. In the Advanced Identity Cloud admin console, go to [icon: touch_app, set=material, size=inline] User Experience > Navigation Profiles.

2. Review the Navigation Profiles page to find the one you want to edit, then click it.

3. Click the Groups tab.

   * To add a group to the navigation profile:

     1. Click [icon: add, set=material, size=inline] Add Group to open the Add Group modal.

     2. Select one or more groups from the Search groups list. You can only select groups that haven't already been assigned to this or other navigation profiles.

     3. Click Add.

   * To remove a group from the navigation profile:

     1. Find the group you want to remove, then click its Ellipsis icon ([icon: more_horiz, set=material, size=inline]) to open its actions menu.

     2. Click [icon: delete, set=material, size=inline] Delete.

     3. In the confirmation modal, click Delete.

### Configure navigation profile ordering

To configure the precedence of a navigation profile relative to other navigation profiles:

1. In the Advanced Identity Cloud admin console, go to [icon: touch_app, set=material, size=inline] User Experience > Navigation Profiles.

2. Click a navigation profile's Drag indicator icon ([icon: drag_indicator, set=material, size=inline]) and drag it to the desired position in the menu.

3. Repeat for any other navigation profiles you want to reorder.

## Delete a navigation profile

1. In the Advanced Identity Cloud admin console, go to [icon: touch_app, set=material, size=inline] User Experience > Navigation Profiles.

2. Review the Navigation Profiles page to find the one you want to delete, then click its Ellipsis icon ([icon: more_horiz, set=material, size=inline]) to open its actions menu.

3. Click [icon: delete, set=material, size=inline] Delete.

4. In the confirmation modal, click Delete.
