# Approve new directory users

## Before you begin

See [Allow self registration for new directory users](p14e_allow_self_registration_p1d_users.html) for instructions to enable self registration.

You need to be either a Global Administrator, Identity Repository Administrator, or have at least User Manager entitlements to approve a new directory user.

## About this task

If you've configured self-registration to require approval, after a new directory user registers, you will need to approve their access to PingOne.

## Steps

1. Go to **Users > User Directory > Users**.

Users who have self-registered and haven't yet been approved have a Status value of `Pending Approval`.

1. For the user to approve, click the down-arrow next to the Details button and click **Approve**.

   ### Result:

   The user status changes to `Enabled` and the user can now access PingOne.

2. Repeat these steps for any additional new users to approve.
