# Reset a user's password

## Before you begin

You need to be either a Global Administrator, Identity Repository Administrator, or have at least User Manager entitlements to reset a directory user's password.

## About this task

You will need to edit a user profile to reset their password. As a consequence of resetting the password, the current user session will be revoked.

## Steps

1. Go to **Users > User Directory > Users**.

2. Click **Edit** to display the user details in Edit mode.

3. Enter a new password in the **Password** field and confirm the new password.

4. Click **Save**.
