You can only edit schema definitions in Directory Server that are read-write. The schema elements indicated by the Modifiable column in the Schema Editor's tables can be modified.

Ensure that your Directory Server instance is running.

To modify a schema definition:

Start the Administrative Console.
In the main menu, click Schema.
On the Schema Editor, click the Object Classes tab.
Select the object class that you want to modify, and then click Actions > Edit.
The Edit dialog box appears.
Make your changes and click OK.
