For optimized performance, the PingDirectoryProxy server requires Java for 64-bit architectures. You can view the minimum required Java version on your Customer Support Center portal or contact your authorized support provider for the latest software versions supported.

Even if your system already has Java installed, you can create a separate Java installation for use by the PingDirectoryProxy server to ensure that updates to the system-wide Java installation do not inadvertently impact the PingDirectoryProxy server. This setup requires that you download the 64-bit version of the Java Development Kit (JDK) instead of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE).

  1. Go to the Oracle download site.
  2. Click JDK Download.
  3. On the download page, select the download file for your operating system and accept the license agreement to start the download.
