For AD Connect versions 3.0 or higher, you can choose to use the auto-update method. You will need to use the manual update process for all versions prior to 3.0. If an update is available for your currently installed version of AD Connect, you will find a notification displayed on the setup details page for AD Connect (Setup > Identity Repository: PingOne AD Connect > Setup).

Note: You can also choose to use the manual update process for any version of AD Connect, if you want to have full control over down-time.
