# Enabling passwordless authentication in the PingID cloud service

## About this task

To enable passwordless authentication in the PingID cloud service, add a security key factor as an additional option to leverage for MFA:

## Steps

1. Go to **Setup → PingID Configuration**.

2. Scroll down to **Alternate Authentication Methods**.

3. Select the **Security Key** checkbox.

4. Scroll down to the **Security Key** section.

5. Click the **Resident Key - Required** radio button.

   |   | When **Resident Key – Required** is selected, **User Verification** is automatically set to **Required**. If user verification was previously set to **Preferred**, all security keys that have not previously undergone user verification will be automatically disabled. |

6. Click **Save**.
