Use the import-ldif tool to import data from an LDIF file at
a scheduled time. To specify a time in the UTC time zone, include a trailing
“Z”. Otherwise, the time will be treated as a local time in the time zone
configured on the server. Make sure the Directory Server is online before running this
command.
$ bin/import-ldif --task \ --hostname server1 \ --port 389 \ --bindDN uid=admin,dc=example,dc=com \ --bindPassword password \ --backendID userRoot \ --ldifFile /path/to/data.ldif \ --start 20111026010000 \ --completionNotify import-complete@example.com \ --errorNotify import-failed@example.com

Confirm that you successfully scheduled your import task using the
manage-tasks tool to view a summary of all tasks on the
system.
$ bin/manage-tasks --summary

Use the manage-tasks tool to monitor the progress of this
task. Use the task ID of the import task. If you cannot find the task ID, use
the --summary option to view a list of all tasks scheduled on
the Directory Server.
$ bin/manage-tasks --info 2011102617321510
