Generating the server profile from the admin console
Run the Download Server Profile task to generate a server profile for setting up and configuring new server instances.
A server profile defines a format for the configuration of a server by combining the following files into a single, concrete structure:
-
dsconfig -
Initial DIT
-
Setup arguments
-
Server SDK extensions
-
Additional miscellaneous files
To run this task from the admin console:
Steps
-
Sign on to the admin console.
Learn more in Signing on to and configuring the admin console.
-
Click the More Options (…) icon on the right side of the top navigation bar and select Download Server Profile in the list.
-
(Optional) In the Download Server Profile modal, enter path values according to the tooltip.
If these paths don’t exist on the server, the task returns an error.
-
Click Run Task. The modal indicates that the server is running the task.
You can cancel the task or let it continue running in the background while you work in the admin console. To access these options, close the modal or click Cancel.

After the task completes, your browser downloads the profile automatically or prompts you to specify a save location (depending on your browser configuration).
You can also find the server profile in the
<server-root>/profile-filesdirectory on the server.
