Manage custom domains using the admin console

You can find background information on custom domains in Configure customer-friendly domain names.

The admin console lets you manage custom domain configuration for only the Alpha and Bravo realms. To configure a custom domain for the top-level realm, follow the instructions in Manage custom domains using the API.

Updating the custom domain configuration can cause Google to provision or reprovision the Google-managed SSL certificate for your custom domains. Your custom domains can be inaccessible or reported as not secure while Google validates and activates the certificate, which can take up to 24 hours. Avoid making repeated changes to the custom domain configuration while provisioning is in progress, because each change can restart the provisioning process. To manage the custom domain configuration for the Alpha or Bravo realms:

  1. In the Advanced Identity Cloud admin console, open the Realm menu (upper left).

  2. Go to settings Realm Settings > Custom Domain.

  3. Review the list of custom domains configured for the realm:

    • To add a new custom domain:

      1. Click + Add a Custom Domain.

      2. In the Add a Custom Domain modal, enter your domain or subdomain name. For example, id.mycompany.com.

      3. Click Next.

      4. In the Verify Domain Name Ownership modal:

        1. (Optional) Follow the on-screen instructions to set up a CNAME record.
Ensure the custom domain name resolves as expected before you continue.

        2. Click Verify, then click Done.

    • To delete a custom domain, click its delete icon (delete), and in the Delete Custom Domain? modal, click Delete.

Before removing a domain or subdomain from the configuration, you must first update any existing applications that rely on that domain or subdomain.
